Devin De Weese
Professor, Department of Central Eurasian Studies at Indiana University
     Prof. DeWeese specializes on the history of Islam in Central and Inner Asia, with a particular focus on Islamization and on the development of Sufi communities. He is the author of Islamization and Native Religion in the Golden Horde (1994), and numerous articles; his current projects include a history of the Yasavi Sufi tradition, a collaborative work on a 14th-century narrative of Islamization and its later elaborations, and a critical analysis of studies of Islam in contemporary Central Asia.
